Busy Bee

Lately, my life has been a bee hive of activity. Slowly, I've been moving stuff into the new space I've taken at French Hen Antiques. Moving into such a large space has been a combination of complete exhilaration and mild panic. I've just had my head down and my nose to the grind stone. Hard work does pay off right???

This time of year everyone in town is "buzzing" with anticipation for the semi-annual Petaluma Antique Fair. This is a great show that takes place on Kentucky St. in historic downtown Petaluma. April 28th and 29th actually make for quite a busy weekend here in town. Saturday, the town gathers to enjoy the infamous Butter & Eggs Parade. Petaluma, used to be the chicken capital of the world. So we take chickens...and eggs for that matter, very seriously around here!

This all adds up to a lot of activity for our town, which is a welcome boost for the local economy and great incentive for us shopkeepers to load our stores with our best for the upcoming festivities. That said, it's really putting the pressure on to have both my spaces filled to the brim and fabulous!

Tomorrow, I'll be taking a buffet, bed and picnic table in. I have to work on two window displays, attack a small mountain of laundry, paint, price, shop for more items, wash the other half of my dishes (gave up at the halfway point tonight), coach Brooke's softball game, help with homework, cook a dinner, pay some bills...is that all? Like I said, I'm a busy, busy bee.

Long time, no type

I've been avoiding you! That really doesn't sound very nice, does it? Here's a little secret about me....I tend to over-think things. I sometimes all the time get stalled out. If I can't do things perfectly, then why do them at all. What a bad attitude, I know, it's really a hindering part of my personality.

There's been many new goings on in my world, moving into a new space at Summer Cottage, visiting the San Francisco gift show, changing sports seasons with the kids and a transformation challenge (weight loss program). I have more than a few irons in the fire and have been putting too much pressure on myself about the quality of my work/life. I'm just a girl...doing the best that I can. Today, I choose to believe that my best is good enough.

A leap of faith...

Do you ever feel like you have something unique to offer? Or maybe you would just like your opinion heard. I think that's what this blog is about for me. I have a million ideas and inspiration overload that need a forum. As an antique dealer at a local collective in my hometown of Petaluma, California, I'm constantly exposed to talented people, their creations and fabulous finds. I'm always surprised by the time and energy that people devote to their homes, "treasure" hunting and crafting. The home decor business is truly a labor of love.

I believe that your home is your sanctuary...it should be the ultimate reflection of the person you are, who and what you love and welcoming to all. Loaded...I know. Right now my home feels more like a nagging reflection of all the things I can't get to yet.

I'm not "there" yet, but I'm dreaming of a home and lifestyle that I know is attainable. What are you dreaming of?
